Intimate Civil Ceremony at The Elm LaGrange

At The McLoone’s civil ceremony at The Elm LaGrange, the guest list was small but the emotions were big. Their immediate family joined Ellie and Patrick to witness their marriage in a lowkey but simultaneously stunning ceremony. It was such a special occasion to photograph two of the sweetest souls! With a day centered on intention, every detail felt meaningful. This celebration proved that a wedding doesn’t have to be large to leave a lasting impact.

The Elm La Grange IL

Established in 2020, The Elm is big on hospitality and they’ve curated a variety of spaces to prove it.  Not counting the main dining room, guests have five choices of spaces to host their events. The rooftop terrace can accommodate up to 140 seated guests or receptions of 200. Ellie and Patrick opted for the Madison Room, a stunning private indoor space with large windows overlooking the city.  Here, their immediate family joined them for their ceremony and some of the most amazing food the city has to offer!

The space itself was effortlessly elegant, with long tables dressed in soft blue tones, classic white roses, blue hydrangeas, and touches of eucalyptus woven throughout. The overall design felt timeless and refined, perfectly complementing the intimate atmosphere of the day.

The Elm Lagrange Ceremony

Ellie and Patrick are planning a wedding in Ireland next year and I can’t wait to be there to support them through it all! They wanted to be sure to include their closest family members locally before their destination vows, and it was a beautiful, close-knit ceremony. Ellie’s father passed away, but she made sure to include him in the ceremony. She honored his memory by saving him a seat at the table with his leather jacket which she also wore for several bridal portraits.

While exchanging gifts, Patrick surprised her with a clutch that, when opened, displayed a childhood photo of Ellie with her father. Not only was the love between the happy couple clear, the love their family has for them was as well.  It was a tearful event, to say the least!

La Grange Wedding Venue

While not a traditional wedding venue, The Elm in La Grange, IL, was an elegant and upscale setting for Ellie & Patrick’s civil ceremony. It’s such a beautiful space! As a wedding photographer, I couldn’t get enough of the modern interior or its proximity to downtown. There were lots of fun spots for photos just outside the front entrance and we took full advantage of them for portraits. For couples planning a Chicago-area micro wedding or civil ceremony, choosing a restaurant venue like this offers a unique blend of intimacy, incredible food, and a relaxed yet elevated atmosphere.
